Guide to Buying at the Auction

The auction method is an excellent way to buy anything you want or need. You actually help determine the final price of the item(s) you purchase. If you have never been to our auctions we would like to help you understand the bidding process.

First, don't be afraid at the auction...and don't be afraid to relax and enjoy the activities. Yawning, blinking your eyes or scratching your nose does not mean you have suddenly outbid someone or bought something.

Auctioneers are professionals who are aware of who is seriously bidding. However, if you want to bid, be sure to raise your BIDDING CARD so that the auctioneer can see it and recognize your bid.

How do you get your Bidder Card?

When you first arrive at the auction, go to the cashier counter and register. All the rules of the auction are posted at this counter.

Please feel free to ask about the procedure for buying. Auction staff members will gladly explain how to bid on an item.

Attend the Preview for the Auction

Of course, the more you know about the items for auction, the better you can determine what amount to bid.

The preview is when you can inspect the items going up for auction.

It's also the best time to ask questions about item(s) you may be interested in. Our staff members can help you make a more informed decision.

The preview is for your benefit so we urge you to take advantage of this time.

The "Auctioneers Chant"

One of the exciting parts of an auction is the auctioneers chant.

This call for bids is a series of prices (both the current amount bid and the bid the auctioneer is asking for next, for example:"I'm bid $200.00 would you go $225.00").

The rest of the chant is filler (words that make the chant rhythmic).

All sales are final

REMEMBER - all items are sold in "AS IS" condition, whether specified or not. For that reason we strongly urge you to bid only on items you have completely examined. All sales are final.

Our auction staff prides itself on being as honest and fair in the description of items as possible but you are solely responsible for the final judgement in regards to condition, age, authenticity and worth of any items on sale at the auction.

Once again, we urge you to take advantage of the preview time.
